My name is Stephanie Patterson and I graduated from the University of Delaware with a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics in May 2018. Going into college, I was an undecided major and it wasn’t until I took an introduction course to nutrition where my interest really grew in health and wellness.
After graduation, I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do. I wasn’t ready for the Dietetic Internship (program Dietetics majors usually do after college to become a Dietitian) but I knew that I loved food and cooking – of course. I started doing my research and came across the Natural Gourmet Institute. This culinary school is too good to be true! Their main focus is health supportive cooking with an emphasis on using traditional, unrefined ingredients. They truly preach the message that food is considered medicine.
I’ve never been more excited to start a new chapter in my life as I will be attending this Institute starting October! I’m still not sure what my exact career will be yet but I know that the knowledge and skills I will learn from this school will be shared with all of you. I believe knowing how to cook is a barrier to healthful eating. I hope to eradicate misconceptions about food, including the notion that healthy food cannot also be enjoyable.
I look forward to being able to share my experiences with you and hope that my platforms inspire you to live a healthier lifestyle!
